I’ve been staring at the ocean for days now,
The horizon seems further away than before.
I get lost in the different shades of blue,
Turning around, feeling cold waves at my core.

Everything distances itself from me,
The coldness of the world finds its way,
Through my soul, into my heart it seeps,
Not sadness, but numbness holds sway.

Numb towards my feelings, I stand,
being held back from the beauty of lost nature.
The shades of blue, appear again
when I close my eyes, and stare at the horizon.

this project was part of a multidisciplinary group exhibition of potters, artists and designers.

the photographs were taken near tamanrasset in the hoggar mountains in 2023. it was during my time there that i wrote a series of texts which became an integral part of the exhibition and which have been re-written into a poem.

in order to convey the sense of transience expressed in the poem, the photographs were printed on a textile. a motion detector was programmed to then project the poem onto one of the hanging textiles. this interactive technique required the viewer to approach the artwork, evoking the sensation of looking up - mirroring my own experience of standing in front of the mountains.
